A West Bromwich War Poet

As November approaches we hear again the poems of so many war poets like Wilfred Owen (born Shropshire), Siegfried Sassoon (born Kent), or perhaps Rupert Brooke (born Rugby) but did you know that West Bromwich has its own forgotten war poet?

See our page dedicated to Geoffrey Bache Smith who was born in West Bromwich and became a friend of J.R.R. Tolkien.  In fact it was Tolkien who helped to get the poems of G.B. Smith published in “A Spring Harvest”.  It is a collection of many poems including those written during WWI.
